The Flea Market Reigns in the Rain!

When you work or have a booth at the Flamingo Island Flea Market, you sort of wish it will rain on Friday, Saturday and Sunday! In fact it would be a perfect weekend at the Market if it rained all three of those days. WHY? Because when you live in Paradise, folks look for those perfect sunny days to go golfing, play tennis, take a long morning walk, go the beach, have outdoor lunch, and the list of sunny things to do is endless. But when it rains the Flea Market is the go to place to shop and eat at one of the restaurants.

Rainy days here in S.W. Florida spells SHOPPING. For me, it says Workout. The Flea Market is the perfect indoor stroll fit place as you also can shop.

When I heard we were expecting a storm today (October 18th 2019), I got excited. The storm was to land on the weekend of the three precious Flaming Island Flea Market Days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We only have THREE days to sell our wares, sells things you can wear and like me, sell heath and fitness and from what I can see, who cares.

My neighbors or ‘Booth Friends’ had really been down. It was a SLOW, SAD SUMMER at the Market, but TODAY! The storm REIGNED on us. Folks came in from the rain and we reigned in on Sales. We met wonderful folks that finally were able to wander in and enjoy what we have to offer in the rain.

Running a small business, is not easy. Especially in OFF Season in S.W. Florida. So those of us that have small businesses, have to prepare for those summer months and slow three day weekends. Most of the Booth Owners  choose the flea market because it is not too expensive to set up shop. But, if there are no folks coming in, it can be tough to survive.

RAIN. As a Seattle Girl, I am use to it but I still hate the rain. As a fitness instructor with a Fitness Tool that  I am selling at the Flea Market, I look forward to these rainy days. As I am writing this, I am thinking of a Rainy Day Workout using the Tool. Will put it up on You Tube (Put Link in too). Here is a Fit Tip for your rainy day, make sure to reign in on your fitness and  health goals even when it rains.

TO FLEA OR NOT FLEE That is the Question?

What is a Flea Market? Where did it all begin? Why do they call it ‘Flea’? To answer my questions, I did a little Google Search. Here is what I found.

Sometime in 1880 in a little city called Paris, folks would bring out their furniture and shabby second-hand goods that may contain ‘Les Puces’, (FLEAS) and sell it!  I guess some folks like Fleas in their Sofa’s?

Yep! The Flea Market is a French dumping ground for those that love those little “Les Puces! Marché. Aux Puces de St-Ouen is the largest Flea Market in the world. Saying it in French makes it so Shabby Chic. This concept has been around hundreds of years. In ancient Greece it was known as the Agora; in Rome, the Forum; and in Israel, at the Temples, in Bonita, The Flamingo Island?

The Flea Market is big business here in the United States. Why? Because all of us have a lot of stuff we could get rid of and sell either at a garage sale, tag sale, yard sale and or Estate Sale ( I know as I was once an Executrix to my Dad’s Estate and boy I wish I would have called that ‘Sale’, Les Puces of Prescott). Probably could have sold stuff faster and at a higher price!

Flea Markets are great places for Entrepreneurs to get a kick start up on a small business. That is ME and I have a booth at The Flamingo Island Flea Market! Why? First it does not require a lot of capital to get it up and running. It gives the entrepreneur a chance to practice sales, learn about displays, advertising or not and marketing (Hello This Blog). It also lets Entrepreneurs know if what they are doing is really working and they like it. In my case, I love what I am doing so The Flea Market is perfect for me!

The other reason I have Fled to The Flea Market is because I love the community of other vendors. It is a culture and here in Bonita Springs, it is a special place with vendors that have unique items and services to offer up for sale.

I was inspired to write this because I learned a lot reading about this very large flea market in New Hampshire. http://www.hollisflea.com/flea_market_history.html So cool!

My last comment is do those Paris Flea Markets have Fitness Classes? NO! They probably sit at a Cafe’ with a glass of Chardonnay a slice of brie on a pan. But this all American Fitness Trainer sees that fitness can be found even at Les Puces Marche’. I am now thinking of giving my booth a bit of a French Twist? I need a Monkey, Music and a French Maids Outfit. I am sure I will sell a lot of RollerSizeRs with this added e’clater.

FLEE TO THE FLEA MARKET Because…

Most likely, the Booth Owners at the Flea Market,  and I am one of them, will have super sales today! They need to clear stuff out because of this terrible storm coming to hit our state. It is a good time to give our customers a SUPER STORM DEAL. I am doing 50% OFF all of The RollerSizeR Ab Toners as I am going to clear my booth out just to be prudent.

For my workout today at the Flea Market, I am going to go up and down the Blue and Red Aisles to see if they are doing any specials. But here is why you need to FLEE! Most Malls, are boarded up. We are only open three days on the weekend. This is the chance for booth owners to make their money. That is why, Fleeing to the Flea Market is smart. That is why, I am going to purchase the six pack of bras which go for $12.00. I may get it for $10.00. If I am lucky to get that six pack, I will show you my purchase on my Instagram Page.

Fun with the F Words!

Flamingo Flea Market – For Fun, Fitness, Fantastic Finds and A Fabulous Fish Taco!

I have a booth at the Flamingo Island Flea Market. I Figured that because the Flea Market is so big, it can inspire people who may not want to walk the beach or get on a treadmill, to walk The Flea Market.  Not only will you burn Fat but you will Find healthy Foods to Fill your Figures. Go Figure! Whoops another F Word! Keep reading Fantastic Feeling shared below….

Bagel Lox with a Side Salad

Let me explain how easy it is to burn Fat, Feel Fit and at the same time, shop, eat and pick up a Few things you need. I start my day with a great cup of coffee at the Flea Market in one of their many venues. You do not have to resort to your normal morning breakfast spots. Come On mix it up. Life needs to be Fun.  Feed yourself at the Flea Market. There are so many different egg dishes you would think you are at the local diner. There are mini donuts too.  I walk by that section with Fleeting pace!

For lunch, it s Bagel and Loxs or an Avocado Tostado. They do NOT skimp here on Food. The loxs are Fresh, wet and a succulent bright orange color.  This is where I get my protein, niacin, B12 and Potassium. Could be the Seattle girl in me why I love Salmon! Could be the NYC gal in me as I spent most of my life in NYC and bagels were my main stay. But, now that I am in Bonita, Avocados are  my go to Fruit. $6.00 and you have a gourmet meal at the Flea Market!

Later in the day, I want an Espresso. Not a coffee, but an ice cream cone! Just one scoop! After that cone, I am motivated to walk the half mile Flea Market again, but this time, Faster, with Fleeting pace and Feel Fitter than when I First came to the Flea Market.

Mall Walking is now being replaced by Flea Strolling. Y STROLL FIT, because one gets Fitter Faster with more Fun if they  Find The Flea Market on a Friday!

The BLUE ISLE IS THE COOL ISLE… Just Saying!

The Flamingo Island Flea Market is in Bonita Springs. In summer it gets a little hot. But isn’t that why you love coming to S.W. Florida? Let alone those whom have chosen to live here full time, like I DO! I guess we survive the heat because we have air conditioning everywhere we go.

The Flamingo Island is a OPEN “Flea” Market. After Hurricane IRMA, they had a little Facelift. They added ‘Air Conditioning’.  SO NICE.  It is piped in with colorful pipes that are along the Isles both Blue and Red, about every 10 feet.

That being said. Normally people park their cars and when they enter the Flea Market they are swept into the Red Isle and the river of shopping! We call it, the Red ‘Light’ Isle (Well, something else that starts with a ‘D’). Why? Because it has a lot of lights! Some even blink, move, sparkle. Like a mini 42nd Street! Not kidding! It is super fun and has really COOL stuff. But the BLUE ISLE IS COOL STUFF TOO and COOLER!

By the time you get to the turn at the North Side of the Market, you feel tired. It is a workout! 300 hundred Booths just in one Isle!  Because the Flea Market is huge! By the time you get to COOL side, the “COOLER” side, The BLUE ISLE, (Where my booth is, Bonita Fit #49), you are tuckered out. There is a bench in front of my booth that most folks use to recover from the Red Isle! I am glad I know C.P.R.!

This is Booths in The Blue Isle
So here is the COOL thing to do. Do an Isle in one day or make it a Three Day Weekend. Take it in. Each Booth requires you to Check It OUT. Meet the Booth Owner. Come the next day and do the Other Isle. You will NOT feel like you are going to faint at the end of the Red Isle or that you are going to miss all the GOOD STUFF in the Blue Isle. Just Saying!

MALL WALKING ANYONE? Let’s get Fit at the Flamingo Island Flea Market!

Turn Music On While Reading. It gets you in the Move!

I have been coming to the local Bonita Springs, Florida Flamingo Island Flea Market for about 11 years off and on. When I finally moved here permanently in the summer of 2016, I started to go back and check out the interesting Booths that the Flea Market. One of the things I noticed as a fitness instructor, it is BIG. It is like a Track. To walk the entire Flea Market is a half mile, 300 Booths on the Red Isle and 300 Booths on the Blue Isle. Just think twice around and you have not only done a mile, but you may have had a serious shopping experience!

In the winter of 2018, after some stressful, family issues and unnecessary traveling, I started to remember back when I got Moms to push their strollers in Central Park and get fit for Motherhood. Well, now it is time to get fit if you are over 50, 60, 70 and yes, we are taking on 80, 90 and 100! Keeping with the Size of things, StrollerSize, RollerSizeR, the classes offered are WalkerSize™ and WaisterSize™. The class focus like any class I teach, is about posture, joint alignment and feeling fit and thinner!

WalkerSize we walk the Blue Isle because that is where my Booth is (Booth #49). We stop and do posture moves under our very own personal air conditioner PIPE. We use a lot of arms because we are using The RollerSizeR® Portable Ab Toner ($39.95 at the Booth, $49.95 on Amazon) That class is about 30 minutes, ($5.00). After, we go to Booth #53 and #54 in the Blue Isle and sit on BIG BALLS or portable camp chairs I purchased from Booth #30 & #32. Will be using them at the local parks when I start to grow. We also of course, use The RollerSizeR as it makes getting fit easier and F.A.S.T.E.R.  It is The Gym in the Bag!

This is my first POST. I just starting teaching and the classes are small.  I am not worried. Strollercize started with three MOMS and later grew to 100 classes in Manhattan. If you can do it there, you can do it in The Flamingo Island Flea Market in Bonita Springs, Florida.
